South Delhi Senior Citizen Targeted in Major Burglary
In a swift operation, the Delhi Police have successfully cracked a significant burglary case, arresting three individuals connected to the theft of cash and jewellery valued at approximately Rs 32 lakh. The crime targeted the residence of a senior citizen in the Ambedkar Nagar area of south Delhi, sending shockwaves through the local community.
CCTV Footage and Early Morning Break-In
The incident came to light on January 1, when an elderly woman returned to her home in the morning. She was immediately confronted with a scene of disarray: the handle of the main gate was broken, and household items were strewn across the interior. Upon checking her belongings, she discovered that her life's savings, comprising a significant amount of gold and silver jewellery along with a large sum of cash, had been stolen.
Acting promptly on her complaint, the police launched an investigation. A crucial breakthrough came from an examination of CCTV footage from the vicinity. The footage clearly showed three suspects, their faces covered, entering the house under the cover of darkness at around 3 am.
Police Crackdown and Recovery of Stolen Goods
Leveraging the visual evidence and other investigative leads, police teams zeroed in on the accused. The breakthrough came when the suspects were spotted on a stolen scooter. All three accused were apprehended from Nala Road in Pushp Vihar, Saket.
The police have identified the arrested individuals as Ishaq, also known as Kalua (24), Pawan (26), and Bharat (23). In a major success for the investigation, the law enforcement officials managed to recover the entire cache of stolen jewellery and cash from the accused. The case property has been formally seized as evidence.
