The police in Jalandhar district have arrested three individuals in separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, recovering a total of 72 intoxicating tablets during patrol and checking operations at different locations.
First Arrest: Woman Held in Ganna Pind
In the first case, a patrol team led by the in-charge of the Ganna Pind police post intercepted Manjeet Kumari, alias Bholi, a resident of Ganna Pind near Phillaur, during routine patrolling. The police recovered 18 intoxicating tablets from her possession. A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
Second Arrest: Man Nabbed Near Lohian Railway Station
In another operation near the Lohian railway station, the police arrested Ajay Kumar, alias Ajay, of Yakubpur Khurd under Lohian Police Station. During checking, the police allegedly recovered 29 intoxicating tablets from him. A case has been registered under Sections 22, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act. The accused has been taken into custody for further investigation.
Third Arrest: Another Man Apprehended in Nakodar
In the third case, the police arrested Harpreet of Village Gohir under Nakodar Police Station. During checking, the police recovered 25 intoxicating tablets from his possession. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
All three arrests were made during separate patrol and checking operations in Jalandhar district. The police have intensified their crackdown on drug peddlers in the region.
