A horrific road accident on the busy Jalandhar-Pathankot highway claimed three lives and left four others seriously injured on Wednesday night. The tragedy unfolded near Raipur village when a speeding vehicle rammed into an auto-rickshaw from behind, triggering a chain collision.
Sequence of the Tragic Collision
According to police sources, the incident occurred when a Toyota Innova, moving at high speed, struck an auto-rickshaw from the rear. The impact was so severe that it pushed the three-wheeler onto the opposite side of the road. There, it collided head-on with a vehicle coming from the other direction.
The auto-rickshaw was carrying a group of six youths who had travelled from Shahbad in Haryana and were on their way to Dera Ballan. Of the three deceased, two were friends from this group.
Victims and Aftermath
Prince and Karan, both residents of Sher Dhola village near Shahbad, succumbed to their injuries at the spot. The auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Sunil Kumar, fought for his life but passed away during treatment at a hospital on Thursday.
The other four occupants of the auto-rickshaw sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical care. The police are investigating the exact speed of the Innova and have launched a probe to determine the full circumstances leading to the fatal crash.
