A surprise inspection at Maharaja Agrasen Civil Hospital in Hisar on June 9 revealed that 35 out of 55 medical officers (MOs) were absent from duty. The inspection was conducted by the Civil Surgeon and Deputy Civil Surgeon.
Show-Cause Notices Issued
The absent doctors were issued show-cause notices and given two days to submit their replies. Sources indicate that some medical officers have responded, while others have not yet provided explanations. Director General of Health Services Dr. Manish Bansal stated that he had not received the complete action-taken report regarding the absentee doctors.
Disciplinary Action Likely
Health Department authorities said disciplinary action would be initiated against doctors whose replies are found unsatisfactory or who fail to respond to the notices. The simultaneous absence of a large number of doctors caused inconvenience to patients, with one patient noting, “It has become routine for patients to stand in long queues and wait for hours at the civil hospital.”
