Attack on AAP Leader in Amritsar

Sikander Singh Khidowali, vice-chairman of the Majitha Block Samiti and an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Thursday night when unidentified assailants fired gunshots at his vehicle near Khidowali village in Amritsar. The incident occurred around 9:55 pm as Khidowali was returning from Rasulpur village with friends in his SUV.

Details of the Incident

According to the complaint filed by Khidowali, he noticed two unidentified youths with covered faces standing by the roadside, while two more youths were positioned behind them. As his Scorpio approached the spot, the two youths on the roadside allegedly opened fire with the intention to kill. Khidowali immediately sped away from the scene and safely reached his residence. Later, upon inspection, he found bullet marks on the right side of the vehicle, confirming that shots had struck the SUV.

Political Rivalry Suspected

Khidowali, an active political figure, stated that there is intense political rivalry in his village. He expressed suspicion that the attack could be linked to this rivalry and that an attempt was made on his life. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the attackers. Further probe is underway.
