In a shocking incident in Agra, a 30-year-old history-sheeter was shot dead by his own associates at a guest house located in the Trans Yamuna police station area. The police confirmed the details on Saturday, revealing that the victim, identified as Raj Chauhan, was attacked by youths who had accompanied him to the guest house on Tedi Bagiya–Jalesar Road.
Timeline of the Fatal Shooting
The incident occurred between 9 and 10 pm on Friday evening. According to preliminary investigations, Chauhan sustained three to four bullet injuries during the attack and died on the spot. Police teams rushed to the scene soon after receiving information and conducted a thorough examination.
Criminal Background of the Victim
Raj Chauhan had multiple criminal cases pending against him, including serious charges such as attempt to murder and offences under the Arms Act. In 2024, he was jailed in an attempt to murder case after firing at a man and injuring him. Another case was registered against him in December 2025 for taking out an unauthorised procession after being released on bail.
Evidence Recovered from the Crime Scene
Investigators recovered several empty cartridges from the room where the shooting took place. Additionally, liquor bottles and glasses were found, indicating that alcohol consumption had occurred before the incident. This evidence suggests that a dispute may have broken out among those present, ultimately leading to the fatal shooting.
Police Response and Investigation
Agra (City) DCP Syed Ali Abbas stated that police teams acted swiftly upon receiving information about the incident. An FIR has been registered against unidentified assailants based on the complaint filed by Chauhan's uncle, Naresh Chauhan. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the accused individuals.
Ongoing Efforts to Nab the Culprits
The police are actively pursuing leads to identify and arrest the associates involved in the shooting. The investigation is focused on understanding the motive behind the dispute and gathering more evidence from the crime scene. Authorities are also reviewing Chauhan's criminal history to determine if there were any prior conflicts that might have contributed to this violent outcome.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in dealing with repeat offenders and the violent tendencies that often accompany criminal lifestyles. The community in Agra is urged to remain vigilant as the police continue their efforts to maintain order and justice in the region.
