Ahmedabad Businessman Attacked After Alleged Tip-Off on Neighbour's Ganja Business
Ahmedabad man attacked over police tip-off on neighbour's ganja

A 40-year-old businessman from the Rakhial area of Ahmedabad became the victim of a violent assault on Sunday evening. The attack, allegedly carried out by his neighbour's son, stemmed from accusations that the victim had tipped off the police about the neighbour's illegal marijuana trade.

Confrontation Over Alleged Police Tip-Off

According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by the victim, the incident occurred after he returned home from work. The accused, his neighbour's son, called him downstairs from his residence on the pretext of having a conversation. Once outside, the confrontation turned hostile.

The assailant directly accused the businessman of being responsible for his father's recent arrest. He claimed the victim had provided information to the Rakhial police about his father's "ganja business". The FIR states that the accused grew increasingly aggressive, hurling abuses before the situation escalated dramatically.

Violent Attack and Death Threat

During the heated argument, the accused suddenly pulled out a sharp weapon. He then struck the complainant on his right thigh, just above the knee. While attacking, he issued a chilling threat: "If you give information to the police about my father again, I will kill you." Following the assault, the accused fled from the spot.

The injured businessman was rushed to Shardaben Hospital by his family members via ambulance. Medical professionals treated the deep wound on his thigh, which required stitches. After receiving the necessary treatment, he was discharged from the hospital.

Police Action and Legal Proceedings

The Rakhial police have registered an FIR in the matter based on the victim's complaint. The case invokes relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to causing hurt by using a dangerous weapon and criminal intimidation. Authorities have confirmed that a further investigation into the attack is currently underway.

This shocking incident highlights the dangers that can arise from neighbourhood disputes and alleged involvement with illegal activities. The police are now tasked with investigating both the original ganja business case that led to the neighbour's arrest and this subsequent violent retaliation.
