A traffic head constable was seriously injured when a two-wheeler rider he signaled to stop knocked him down at high speed in Ahmedabad on Thursday morning. The incident occurred near the Sanand bridge underpass on SG Road, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement personnel during routine traffic operations.

Details of the Incident

The 40-year-old traffic cop, identified as Jayesh Jadav, filed a formal complaint with the SG-2 traffic police station. According to the complaint, Jadav was serving as the in-charge of Interceptor-05 of the city traffic branch. Around 9:30 AM on Thursday, Jadav and his team were conducting routine traffic checks near the Sanand bridge underpass.

The police stated that the Interceptor vehicle was stationed on the roadside when Jadav signaled the rider to stop. Instead of complying, the rider, identified as Mahima Shakyavan (24), allegedly accelerated toward him and struck him before he could move to safety. Shakyavan is a resident of Vraj Dham Flats near Ujala Hotel in Sarkhej.
