The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Ambala police has arrested a Nigerian national and recovered 294 grams of the synthetic drug MDMA from his possession. The accused has been identified as Mbacha Ikechukwu David. The market value of the seized drugs is approximately Rs 30 lakh, according to Ambala DSP Jagbir Malik.
Earlier Arrests Led to the Supplier
On June 19, a team from the ANC had arrested a Kurukshetra resident named Surinder and a woman, recovering 55 grams of heroin from their possession. The duo was traveling from Delhi to Ambala on a two-wheeler when they were intercepted. A case was registered at the Parao police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During police remand, the arrested individuals disclosed that they had purchased the heroin from a Nigerian national based in Delhi. Acting on this information, the police laid a trap and apprehended Mbacha Ikechukwu David in Delhi.
Raid Yields MDMA Worth Lakhs
During a subsequent raid on David’s rented accommodation, the police recovered 294 grams of MDMA. DSP Jagbir Malik stated that the market value of the recovered drug is around Rs 30 lakh. Preliminary investigations revealed that David had entered India on a study visa but was allegedly involved in drug trafficking.
The police are now seeking to uncover the full network. “During the remand, we will obtain information about his source and clients so that the entire nexus can be busted,” the DSP said.
Ongoing Investigation
The case highlights the challenges of drug trafficking through foreign nationals. The ANC continues to investigate the supply chain and any local connections. Further arrests are expected as the probe deepens.
