High-Level Security Review After Red Fort Blast

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called an urgent high-level security review meeting following the devastating explosion at Red Fort that claimed nine lives. The meeting, scheduled for Tuesday morning at Shah's residence, comes just hours after the blast shook the national capital.

Key Officials Attend Critical Meeting

The high-level gathering will see participation from Union Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau, Delhi Police Commissioner, and Director General of National Investigation Agency. Additionally, the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir will join the meeting virtually, according to Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson.

The security review assumes critical importance as investigators continue to piece together evidence from Monday's explosion. The blast occurred in a moving Hyundai i20 car outside Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, leaving nine people dead and several others injured.

Multi-Agency Investigation Underway

Speaking after the incident, Home Minister Shah confirmed that investigating agencies are examining all possible angles and not ruling out any scenario. "We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all possibilities into account," Shah stated during his visit to the blast site.

The investigation involves multiple agencies including NSG and NIA teams, along with forensic experts. Shah emphasized that orders have been issued to examine all nearby CCTV cameras and that the senior-most FSL team has arrived at the scene.

When questioned about whether this constituted a terror attack, Shah maintained caution, saying, "It is difficult to say what caused the incident. Until the samples recovered from the blast site are analysed by forensic authorities and NSG, we can't say anything. But we are not ruling out anything."

Police Track Vehicle Movement

Delhi Police have revealed crucial details about the vehicle's movement prior to the explosion. The Hyundai i20 was first spotted around 7:30 am outside Asian Hospital in Faridabad before entering Delhi via the Badarpur toll booth on Faridabad road at approximately 8:13 am on Monday.

In a significant development, investigators have identified a 34-year-old resident of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district who purchased the Hyundai i20 on October 29. This individual has become a key person of interest in the ongoing probe.

The investigation has also uncovered substantial evidence including 358 kg of explosives, suspected to be ammonium nitrate, seized from the rented accommodation of one accused in Faridabad's Dhauj village on Sunday.

Authorities remain committed to completing the investigation swiftly, with Shah expressing confidence that agencies will reach conclusions about the blast cause within a short timeframe. The Home Minister assured that all investigation results will be presented to the public once the probe concludes.
