A police team from the CIA staff, led by sub-inspector Jassa Singh, arrested a man suspected of smuggling arms from across the border in a late-night operation near Tarn Taran. The accused, identified as Daler Singh, a resident of Gehri village, was taken into custody after a routine patrol intercepted him on a motorcycle near Bir Baba Buddha Sahib.
Seizure of weapons
Two foreign-made pistols along with their magazines and two live cartridges were recovered from the accused. The police also impounded the motorcycle he was riding. A case has been registered at the Chabal police station under Sections 25, 27, and 59 of the Arms Act, which deal with the illegal possession and trafficking of weapons.
Police operation details
According to the police, the suspect was acting suspiciously in the area, prompting the officers to stop him. During the search, the weapons were discovered. Preliminary investigations suggest the arms were being smuggled from across the border, though further questioning is underway to determine the source and intended recipients. The police are also probing whether Daler Singh has links to any larger smuggling network.
