Bengaluru: The Jayanagar police have successfully cracked a housebreak case with the arrest of five accused, including two juveniles. The police recovered eight expensive watches and other stolen valuables from the suspects.
Details of the Accused
The arrested individuals have been identified as Tousif (20), Syed Rafiq (22), Imamul (22), and two 16-year-old juveniles. All are residents of Tilak Nagar. They are alleged to have burgled the residence of Syed Mohammed Akbar (55), owner of JET Bus Travels, located in Jayanagar 4th T Block. The incident occurred on the night of May 19.
How the Burglary Came to Light
According to Akbar's complaint, he occasionally visited his old house to check on the property. On May 19, a neighbor alerted him that the front door of the house was ajar. Upon inspection, Akbar discovered several valuables missing, including Rs 20,000 in cash, eight branded watches, a gold-plated mobile phone, silver articles, a gold coin, and some bus parts.
Arrests and Recovery
The police detained two juvenile suspects in Jayanagar 1st Block on May 20. During interrogation, they allegedly confessed to committing the theft along with four accomplices and disclosed details of the stolen property. The minors were sent to a state home the following day. Subsequently, the police arrested three other accused from Tilak Nagar. The fourth accomplice is reported to be absconding.
From the accused, the police recovered eight branded watches valued at Rs 6 lakh, along with other stolen valuables. A senior police officer stated that all five accused are school dropouts and first-time offenders.
