Bengaluru Police Nab Woman Burglar in Male Disguise Within 24 Hours

The Sampigehalli police in Bengaluru's North-East Division achieved a remarkable breakthrough. They solved a house burglary case in just one day. Officers arrested a woman who cleverly disguised herself as a man to commit the crime.

Swift Police Action After Daytime Burglary

The incident unfolded in Agrahara Layout, Yelahanka. Complainant Sangameshwar, aged 42, left home with his wife on Tuesday morning. They dropped their children at school. When Sangameshwar returned around 5:30 PM, he discovered a shocking scene.

His front door was broken open. Valuables were missing from the house. The stolen items included 30 grams of gold, 60 grams of silver, and Rs 15,000 in cash. Sangameshwar immediately alerted the police.

Authorities registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They formed a Special Investigation Team without delay. The SIT began pursuing leads aggressively.

Arrest Reveals Elaborate Deception

Acting on specific information, police arrested the main accused on January 14. They took 45-year-old Reshma into custody from Amarajyothi Layout. During interrogation, Reshma reportedly confessed to the theft.

Investigators uncovered her meticulous planning. Reshma disguised herself as a man to avoid raising suspicion. She did not want anyone to suspect a woman during the burglary.

Police also examined her getaway vehicle. They found a scooter with a fake registration plate. Reshma had repainted the scooter to make tracing more difficult. This step further demonstrated her intent to mislead authorities.

Significant Recovery of Stolen Property

The police team executed a thorough search. They recovered a substantial portion of the stolen property. Officers found 217 grams of gold ornaments and 80 grams of silver ornaments.

Investigators also seized an iron rod. Reshma used this rod to force open the house lock. The recovery represents a major success for the investigating team.

A police officer commented on the case. "The accused took several steps to hide her identity," the officer said. "She altered vehicle details to escape notice. Our team acted promptly and cracked the case within 24 hours."

Criminal History and Ongoing Investigation

Police records reveal Reshma's extensive criminal background. She faces similar charges at multiple police stations across Bengaluru. Cases are registered against her at Hebbal, Adugodi, and Bommanahalli stations.

Additional cases exist at Nelamangala, Jalahalli, Kothanur, and RMC Yard police stations. This history suggests a pattern of criminal behavior.

Investigations continue actively. Police are working to trace the remaining stolen property. They aim to recover all items taken during the burglary.

The swift resolution highlights effective police work. It also serves as a warning to criminals using elaborate disguises. Bengaluru police demonstrated their capability to unravel complex deception quickly.
