Incident and Arrest
A stalker allegedly molested a 13-year-old girl in Bhopal. Acting on a complaint from the girl's mother, police registered a molestation case against the man under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested him on Friday.
Details of the Harassment
The victim, a Class 7 student, lived in the same neighbourhood as the accused. According to the mother's complaint, the man frequently stalked girls in the area and made obscene remarks. He had been harassing her daughter for the past 8–10 days.
The mother stated that the stalker would stand in front of their home in an inebriated condition and pass obscene comments. On Friday, when her daughter stepped out of the house, the man molested her. The terrified girl returned home and narrated the ordeal to her family, who immediately reported it to the police.
Legal Action
Police registered a case under relevant sections of BNS and POCSO Act and took the accused into custody. Further investigation is underway.
