Police officials clarified a critical misconception among many event organisers. They emphasised that merely submitting an application does not grant any right to hold a public event. Written approval from the competent authority is an absolute prerequisite before any arrangements can be made. Organisers must obtain this permission specifically from the licensing cell at the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) office in coordination with the traffic police.
The advisory highlighted that this procedure is essential for the police to plan and deploy adequate personnel. Proper management of traffic and ensuring the safety of both participants and the general public depend on this prior coordination.
Specific High-Traffic Zones to be Avoided
The police notice specifically identified problematic areas that have repeatedly faced disruptions due to unauthorised events. In the interest of public safety and smooth vehicular movement, organisers have been strongly advised to avoid using the stretch from Behera Sahi Square to Nandankanan Square for their events.
