Bikram Majithia Joins Probe in Police Station Storming Case Amid High Drama
Bikram Majithia Joins Probe in Police Station Storming Case

Former Punjab minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Saturday joined the investigation in connection with an FIR registered for allegedly storming the Majitha police station on May 31. The development followed a local court granting him anticipatory bail in the case.

High Drama Over Lawyer Entry

Before Majithia joined the probe, high drama unfolded as police refused to allow his lawyers to accompany him inside the station. Advocate Pardeep Saini alleged the restriction violated Supreme Court and high court guidelines regarding legal representation during investigations. He also noted that earlier, advocate Bikram Singh Bath's name had been removed from the FIR after court intervention.

Anticipating Majithia's arrival, police barricaded all roads leading to the station and deployed heavy security. When Majithia arrived, officers informed him he must enter alone without his legal counsel. This led to heated arguments between police and the Akali leader's legal team, with lawyers gathering outside to protest the restrictions.

Majithia's Response

Addressing reporters, Majithia said he had informed the public via social media around 9:30 am that he would join the investigation. He termed the closure of the police station gates and restrictions on entry as illegal, alleging police were violating human rights. His supporters maintained there was no political gathering outside, only lawyers needed for legal formalities.

Resolution After Hours of Standoff

After hours of confrontation and negotiations, Majithia eventually agreed to join the investigation without his lawyers. The case stems from an incident on May 31 when Majithia and his supporters allegedly stormed the Majitha police station. The police had registered an FIR, and the court granted anticipatory bail on condition that Majithia cooperate with the investigation.
