BJP Accuses Priyanka Gandhi, Robert Vadra of Land Grab

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday accused Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her husband Robert Vadra of attempting to grab land in Uttarakhand. BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla alleged that the land in question belonged to an elderly woman and that efforts were made to force her relocation after attempts to acquire the property through legal means failed.

Allegations of Coercion and Legal Maneuvers

Speaking to reporters, Poonawalla claimed that the Vadras had first tried to purchase the land legally but, when that did not succeed, they resorted to pressure tactics to get the owner to vacate. He stated that the land is located in a prime area of Uttarakhand and is worth crores of rupees. The BJP spokesperson demanded a thorough investigation into the matter, accusing the Congress leader of using her political influence for personal gain.

Political Reactions and Denials

The Congress party has denied the allegations, calling them a baseless political attack. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said that the BJP was trying to divert attention from real issues by making false accusations. He challenged the BJP to provide concrete evidence of any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government has not yet commented on the issue, but sources indicate that the state administration is reviewing the allegations.

Historical Context of Land Disputes

This is not the first time the Vadra family has faced land-related controversies. Robert Vadra has been involved in several property disputes in the past, including the controversial land deals in Haryana and Rajasthan. The BJP has frequently targeted the Gandhi family over these issues, accusing them of corruption and misuse of power. The latest allegation comes ahead of the upcoming state elections in Uttarakhand, adding a political dimension to the controversy.
