Shocking Assault in Giridih Village
A horrific incident of violence against a woman has sent shockwaves through a village in Jharkhand's Giridih district. Two men allegedly poured boiling cooking oil on a woman after she bravely resisted their attempt to molest her. The brutal attack occurred late on Sunday, leaving the victim with severe burn injuries.
Details of the Brutal Attack
According to the police, the woman runs a small snack shop in her village to support her family. On the fateful Sunday evening, she was frying snacks at her shop when two men from a neighbouring village, identified as Uday Choudhary and Manish Choudhary, arrived at her stall. The duo allegedly began to harass her. When the woman showed courage and resisted their advances, the situation turned violent.
In a fit of rage, the accused reportedly took the vessel containing the boiling oil she was using for cooking and poured it on her. After committing the heinous act, the two men fled from the scene. Hearing her cries, locals rushed to her aid and immediately took her to the local Sadar hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Police Action and Community Outrage
The Bokaro police, upon being informed, swiftly registered a First Information Report (FIR) in the matter. One of the accused, Uday Choudhary, has been arrested. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the second accused, Manish Choudhary, who is still at large.
The former mukhiya (village head) of the village highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating that the woman's entire family is dependent on the income from the small shop. He also revealed that the two accused have a known history of misconduct in the area. The local community has come together to support the victim's treatment, demanding strict legal action against the perpetrators.
This appalling incident has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of women, especially those running small businesses in rural areas. The police investigation is ongoing.
