Four-Year-Old Boy Killed in Bhopal Auto Collision
A devastating road accident in Bhopal on Monday evening resulted in the death of a young child and left his mother injured. The incident occurred on Smart City Road near the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research in the Shyamla Hills area.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The accident took place around 4 pm at a turning point close to the college. A passenger auto carrying a mother and her son collided with a loading vehicle belonging to a courier company. Police described the crash as a high-impact collision.
The deceased child has been identified as four-year-old Yashvardhan Pateria. His mother, Neha Pateria, sustained injuries in the accident. The family resides at the Seventh Battalion officers' quarters.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy
According to SHO Bhupinder Kaur Sandhu of Shyamla Hills police station, Neha Pateria hired the passenger auto near the Seventh Battalion to go shopping in the city with her young son. As the auto approached NITTTR, a loading auto coming from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle at the turning point.
The impact proved particularly severe for young Yashvardhan, who was sitting on his mother's lap at the time of collision. The force threw the child out of the auto onto the road, where he sustained serious head injuries.
Emergency Response and Medical Treatment
Passers-by immediately came to assist the injured family. Neha rushed her son to a private children's hospital with their help. Doctors at that facility referred the critically injured child to Hamidia Hospital for advanced treatment.
Medical professionals at Hamidia Hospital examined Yashvardhan but could not save his life. They declared the four-year-old dead upon arrival. Neha Pateria received treatment for her injuries, while the passenger auto driver suffered fractures in both legs.
Police Investigation and Family Background
Police have registered a case regarding the fatal accident. They seized both vehicles involved in the collision for examination. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash.
The child's father, Sachin Pateria, serves as an inspector with the Indore Lokayukta. He previously worked at the Seventh Battalion before transferring to his current position approximately three months ago. The body has been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem examination as part of the investigation.
