Bus Plunges Down Hillside in Remote Himachal Area
A tragic accident in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district claimed at least eight lives on Tuesday after a private bus rolled off a hilly road. The vehicle was traveling from Kupvi to Shimla when the disaster struck.
Authorities fear the death toll could rise further as several of the approximately 30 to 35 passengers on board sustained serious injuries. The accident occurred on a narrow stretch in the remote Haripurdhar area.
Rescue Operations Underway Amid Fears of Rising Toll
Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur, Nishchint Singh Negi, confirmed the casualties and the ongoing rescue efforts. "Eight deaths have been reported so far in the bus accident. The death toll could increase," Negi told ANI.
He added, "There were around 30–35 people on board. Police and other rescue teams are trying to evacuate the injured." The bus reportedly lost control before plunging down the hillside, leaving the vehicle badly mangled.
Local Heroes and Emergency Response
In the critical initial moments, local residents were the first to reach the accident spot and provided crucial help in rescuing injured passengers before official emergency teams arrived.
The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Due to the severity of some conditions, several victims have been referred to higher medical centres for advanced care. The community and authorities continue to work together in the aftermath of this devastating incident.
