A dramatic chain of events unfolded on Gurgaon's busy NH-19 late Saturday evening, resulting in two separate accidents within minutes of each other near the Sector 28 metro station. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident, according to the local police.
High-Speed Crash Leaves Car Wedged in Grille
The sequence began when a white Honda car, reportedly travelling at high speed, suddenly lost control. Eyewitnesses described the vehicle first striking the central divider before overturning multiple times. It finally came to a violent stop, wedged between the divider's metal grille and a roadside tree.
The impact was so severe that it triggered the car's airbags, a safety feature that likely prevented serious harm to the driver. Alerted by a loud crash, locals and passersby rushed to the mangled vehicle. They managed to safely pull the trapped driver out from the wreckage, though the Honda was completely damaged.
Onlooker's Curiosity Leads to Second Collision
As a crowd gathered at the site of the first crash, a second collision occurred just a short distance away. The driver of a Chandigarh-registered Fronx car slowed down and stopped on the highway, apparently to get a look at the overturned Honda.
This momentary pause had immediate consequences. A white Maruti Swift car approaching from behind failed to slow down in time and rammed into the stationary Fronx. The force of this collision was enough to deploy the airbags in the Swift as well. While no one was hurt, both vehicles sustained extensive damage in this secondary crash.
Police Clear Scene, Launch Probe
Police teams reached the spot promptly after being alerted. Their first priority was to clear the damaged vehicles from NH-19 to restore normal traffic flow, which had been disrupted by the back-to-back accidents.
An officer confirmed that a probe has been initiated to determine the exact sequence of events. The investigation will focus on whether overspeeding, driver negligence, or other factors caused the initial loss of control. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of this inquiry.
