In a significant crackdown on unauthorized construction, the Chandigarh administration on Tuesday sealed the popular Sago Club located in Sector 26, citing major violations of sanctioned building plans and construction norms. The upscale venue is reportedly associated with renowned rapper Badshah.
Joint Operation by Estate Office Teams
A joint team from the Estate Office's Building Branch and Enforcement Wing carried out the sealing operation after thorough inspections revealed several deviations from the approved building plan. Officials stated that the club operators had received multiple notices to rectify the irregularities but failed to comply within the stipulated deadline.
Details of Violations
The exact nature of the deviations has not been disclosed, but sources indicate that the violations included unauthorized additions and alterations to the structure. The administration had earlier issued warnings and gave ample time for compliance, but the operators did not take corrective action.
Separate Action in Sector 17
In a separate action on the same day, authorities also sealed Showroom No. 9 in Sector 17 for similar violations of building regulations. The showroom was found to have constructed unauthorized extensions and made changes without approval.
The crackdown is part of a broader drive by the Chandigarh administration to enforce building bylaws and curb illegal constructions across the city. Officials have warned that strict action will be taken against any property found violating norms.
The sealing of Sago Club has sent shockwaves through the city's hospitality sector, as the venue was a popular spot for parties and events. The action underscores the administration's commitment to maintaining urban planning standards.
