Chennai Police Arrest Two in Mobile Snatching Case

The city police have arrested two individuals in connection with a mobile phone snatching incident in Vepery and have also recovered a stolen two-wheeler. The arrest was made following a complaint filed by the victim, Ilanchezhiyan, aged 38.

Incident Details

On May 3, Ilanchezhiyan was walking along Thana Street when two men on a two-wheeler followed him, snatched his mobile phone, and fled the scene. Based on his complaint, the Vepery police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Arrest and Investigation

The police arrested the accused, identified as Mukesh Kumar, 21, from Purasawalkam, and Karuppasamy Pandian, 25, from Pallavaram. During interrogation, it was revealed that the duo had stolen a two-wheeler and used it to snatch cellphones in the Egmore area, targeting multiple victims.

The police have seized the stolen two-wheeler and are investigating further to determine if the accused were involved in other similar crimes. The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody.
