In a significant breakthrough, Chittoor police arrested two individuals involved in multiple house break-in offences and recovered stolen property valued at approximately Rs 15 lakh. The operation took place on Saturday, bringing relief to the residents of the region.
Details of the Arrest
According to Chittoor DSP Venkatanarayana, a house break-in was reported on April 14 at the residence of one Balaji in the Murakambattu locality on the outskirts of Chittoor. Following the complaint, four special police teams were formed to investigate the case. The teams successfully apprehended N Ramanjaneyulu of Dharmavaram and Noorullah of Renigunta near Penumuru on Saturday.
Recovered Property
Police recovered a substantial amount of stolen property from the possession of the accused. This included gold ornaments weighing 100 grammes, silver articles weighing 119 grammes, and Rs 1 lakh in cash. The total value of the recovered items is estimated to be around Rs 15 lakh.
Background of the Accused
The Chittoor DSP revealed that Ramanjaneyulu was a habitual offender, with a criminal record involving 24 house break-in offences registered at multiple police stations across the state. Investigations further uncovered that Noorullah played a supportive role, assisting Ramanjaneyulu in committing these crimes.
The swift action by the police has been commended by local residents, who had been living in fear due to the recent spate of burglaries. The authorities have assured that further investigations are underway to determine if the duo was involved in other unsolved cases.
