Chittorgarh Police Crack Down on Violent Robbery, Arrest Three Accused
In a significant breakthrough, the Chittorgarh police have successfully apprehended three individuals involved in a brazen robbery that targeted a local trader. The incident, which occurred in the Kotwali police station area on January 24, involved the use of chilli powder to incapacitate the victim before making off with a substantial sum of cash.
Details of the Robbery and Arrest
According to Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi, the victim, identified as Omprakash, was returning to his residence on his scooter after concluding business at his shop. As he approached his home, three assailants arrived on a motorcycle and executed a swift and violent attack.
"When he reached outside his house, three men arrived on a motorcycle, threw chilli powder into his eyes, and fled after snatching his bag containing Rs 2 lakh in cash," SP Tripathi stated, outlining the sequence of events that led to the robbery.
Police Investigation and Breakthrough
Following the registration of a robbery case at the Kotwali police station, authorities swiftly mobilized a special investigative team. This team operated under the direct supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Sarita Singh and was led by Kotwali police station officer Tulsiram Prajapat.
The investigative efforts focused on a meticulous examination of CCTV footage from the vicinity of the crime scene. This digital surveillance proved crucial, enabling the police to identify and subsequently detain three suspects for questioning.
Identification and Confession of the Accused
The individuals taken into custody were identified as:
- Sunil, aged 29
- Deepak Singh, aged 29
- Pushkar, aged 30
All three are reported to be residents of Chittorgarh district. During interrogation, the detained men confessed to their involvement in the planned robbery, leading to their formal arrest by the Chittorgarh police.
Ongoing Efforts and Recovery
While the primary suspects are now in custody, police officials have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to recover the looted amount of Rs 2 lakh. The investigation remains active as authorities work to ensure full accountability and restitution in this case of violent theft.
