Major Drug Bust in Chittorgarh: Police Seize 205kg of Illegal Opium

In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Bhadesra police in Chittorgarh district executed a major seizure on Wednesday, confiscating 205 kilograms of illegal opium doda churna from a vehicle during a strategic blockade. This operation was part of the ongoing Operation Trinetra, a targeted initiative launched to combat drug-related activities across the region.

Operation Trinetra: A Coordinated Effort Against Narcotics

Chittorgarh Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi detailed that the seizure was conducted under the directives of Udaipur Range Inspector General Gaurav Srivastava. The operation aims to intensify efforts against the storage and transportation of narcotics, with authorities emphasizing maximum action against offenders. Tripathi stated, "We are committed to taking stringent measures to disrupt the supply chain of illegal drugs in the district."

Under the supervision of Chittorgarh Additional Superintendent of Police Sarita Singh, a specialized team led by Bhadesra Station House Officer Vinod Menaria was deployed. The team established a blockade at the Bhalundi intersection, a key location for monitoring suspicious movements.

The Dramatic Interception and Seizure

During the blockade, a suspicious Toyota Fortuner car with two occupants approached the spot at high speed from the Lasrawan side. When police signaled the vehicle to stop, the driver attempted to reverse and flee, prompting immediate action from the authorities. In response, the police team swiftly burst one of the car's tires, forcing the individuals inside to abandon the vehicle and escape on foot.

Upon searching the abandoned car, officers discovered 11 plastic bags containing the illegal opium doda churna, totaling 205 kilograms. This substantial haul highlights the scale of narcotics trafficking in the area and the effectiveness of police vigilance.

Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigation

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and a thorough investigation has been initiated to trace the origins of the contraband and apprehend the suspects. The police are leveraging forensic evidence and intelligence to uncover broader networks involved in the drug trade.

This seizure underscores the proactive measures being taken by law enforcement agencies in Rajasthan to curb illegal drug activities. Operation Trinetra continues to focus on high-impact interventions, with authorities urging public cooperation to report any suspicious activities related to narcotics.
