Vijayawada: Circle inspector Chinna Mallayya, who was embroiled in a rape case registered against him at Vinukonda police station and is currently absconding, has been placed under suspension after charges were framed against him.
Guntur range DIG Sarvashresta Tripathi issued the suspension orders on Saturday. The CI was sent to vacancy reserve earlier. It may be mentioned here that Vinukonda police booked a rape case against Mallayya based on a complaint filed by a woman on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Palnadu SP Krishna Rao has constituted two special teams to track down and arrest the accused officer. Police are currently gathering evidence and monitoring possible locations linked to him. Investigations reveal that Mallayya allegedly maintained a farmhouse at Brahmanapalli village in Vinukonda, where he is accused of engaging in inappropriate activities. The complainant in the rape case has already recorded her statement before a court, strengthening the case against him.
Meanwhile, videos allegedly showing Mallayya with other women have surfaced on social media and are going viral, adding further controversy to the case.
