The Karumbukadai police in Coimbatore have launched an investigation to apprehend several youths seen in a video injecting drugs into their veins. The footage surfaced on social media on Friday, prompting immediate action from law enforcement.
Second Video Shows Youth in 'Zombie' State
Another video also emerged on Friday, depicting a youth standing motionless like a 'zombie' on a roadside. According to a police officer, the individual, a daily wage earner who lives on the street near Karumbukadai, is a known drug abuser. Police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation to identify and arrest all individuals visible in the videos, including the youth standing still.
Police Commissioner Confirms Identification
Commissioner of Police N Kannan stated, 'We have identified the person who was acting as if he were standing still on a busy road. Similarly, investigations are under way to trace the youths seen injecting drugs.' The police have intensified patrols in areas known for substance abuse and are closely monitoring social media trends.
Expert Warning on Synthetic Drugs
Experts caution that as synthetic drugs become more accessible through the dark web, public awareness and immediate reporting are crucial for preventing a crisis. The police urge citizens to report any suspicious activity related to drug abuse.
