Tragic End for Hisar Couple on Railway Tracks
A young man and woman, who had been in a live-in relationship for approximately one and a half years, died by suicide late on Tuesday night in a tragic incident in Hisar. The couple ended their lives by jumping in front of a moving train on the Sirsa–Bathinda railway line near the Kalanwali bridge.
Victims Identified: A Story of Complex Lives
Police have identified the deceased as Manpreet Singh, aged 25, from Khatrawa village in Sirsa district, and Sukhpreet Kaur, aged 23, a resident of Kewal village. The investigation revealed poignant details about their personal circumstances.
Manpreet Singh was a factory worker and the only son of his parents. He was also the father of three children. Sukhpreet Kaur was the mother of two children. She had reportedly been separated from her husband for about five years due to his alleged drug addiction. However, her divorce was not legally finalized. During her separation, she came into contact with Manpreet Singh, and the two began living together.
Timeline of the Tragic Incident
The couple reached the railway tracks late on Tuesday night. The fatal incident occurred between approximately 2:30 AM and 2:45 AM. The station master alerted the authorities after receiving information that two individuals had been hit by a train.
The train involved was the Jammu–Katra express coming from the Bathinda direction. Upon receiving the alert, personnel from the Govt Railway Police (GRP) immediately rushed to the spot. They completed the necessary legal formalities at the scene. The bodies were subsequently sent to the civil hospital for a post-mortem examination.
