CRPF Constable and Wife Arrested for Assaulting 10-Year-Old Girl in Noida

The Greater Noida Police arrested a CRPF constable and his wife on Sunday, January 18, for allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old girl. The child was kept at their government accommodation for domestic work without official permission. She is now fighting for her life on a ventilator in a Noida hospital.

Details of the Alleged Abuse

Police identified the accused as Tariq Anwar, a Commandant in the 235th Battalion of the CRPF, and his wife Rimpa Khatoon. They brought the girl, a relative of Khatoon, to their residence inside a CRPF camp in Greater Noida. The couple reportedly tasked her with household chores and childcare.

Authorities say the child faced prolonged physical abuse and starvation. On the night of January 14-15, the girl was allegedly beaten so severely that she required hospitalization. A Subedar Major from the CRPF filed a written complaint at the Ecotech-III police station. Based on this, police registered a case under Section 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Medical Condition and Hospitalization

The girl was first admitted to Sarvodaya Hospital and later transferred to Max Hospital in Sector 128, Noida. She is currently on ventilator support. Medical reports reveal shocking details of her condition.

Doctors found severe malnutrition and multiple injuries. These include fractured bones, torn nails, broken teeth, deep bruises, and swelling across her body. Her haemoglobin level had plummeted to a dangerously low 1.9, indicating critical health risks.

CRPF Response and Departmental Actions

The CRPF has suspended Constable Tariq Anwar following the arrest. The force confirmed that internal proceedings are underway to assist the police investigation. A senior official stated that no permission or intimation was given to the department about the child staying in the residential quarters.

Officials from the child welfare department have been informed about the case. The minor was staying with the couple at their quarters inside the CRPF camp, but this arrangement lacked official approval.

Concerns Over Evidence Tampering

A complaint filed by a CRPF Assistant Commandant raised concerns about potential evidence tampering. It alleged that the residential quarters where the girl was found were being vacated without being sealed for forensic examination. This delay could hinder the investigation.

Police are continuing their probe into the matter, focusing on the allegations of abuse and the circumstances under which the child was kept. The case highlights serious issues of child welfare and accountability within government accommodations.
