A 45-year-old cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run incident in the Haibowal area of Ludhiana on Wednesday night. The victim, identified as Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Haibowal, was cycling home when an unknown vehicle struck him from behind and fled the scene.

Incident Details

The accident occurred around 9:30 PM near the Haibowal Kalan bridge. Passersby found Kumar lying unconscious on the road and alerted the police. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police Investigation

SHO of Haibowal police station, Inspector Jaswinder Singh, said that a case has been registered under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. The police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle.

No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is ongoing. The victim's family has been informed, and his body has been sent for post-mortem.
