Coimbatore: In a daring daylight burglary, unidentified burglars broke into a house at Rathinapuri on Saturday and decamped with 10 sovereigns of gold, silver, and cash.

The Incident

Harirav, 69, a resident of Balusamy Nagar at Rathinapuri, works at a private hospital on Mettupalayam Road. On Saturday morning, Harirav had gone to work while his wife and other family members were out of town, leaving the house locked.

The burglary came to light on Saturday evening when Harirav returned from work and found the back door lock broken. Upon checking, he discovered that 10 sovereigns of gold, silver, and cash were missing from the almirah.

Police Investigation

Harirav lodged a complaint with the Rathinapuri police, and a case was registered. Fingerprint experts and a forensic team visited the spot to collect evidence. Police are scanning CCTV footage from the locality to identify the suspects. It appears the burglars monitored the victim's movements before striking, a police officer said.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Further investigations are underway.
