Delhi Doctor Arrested After Fatal E-Rickshaw Crash

A doctor from Rohini was arrested on Friday after his car collided with an e-rickshaw, resulting in the death of the rickshaw driver and injuries to several passengers. The incident occurred in northwest Delhi's Model Town area on Friday evening, according to police reports.

Accident Details

Police received a PCR call around 6 pm reporting a collision near a hospital on Ring Road. Upon arrival, officers found that a car had struck a battery-operated rickshaw, causing it to overturn. The impact left six people injured, including the e-rickshaw driver, Nagender (36), and five passengers. The car driver immediately transported all injured individuals to a hospital in his vehicle.

Victims and Injuries

During treatment, Nagender succumbed to his injuries. The other injured, comprising two women and three children, are currently undergoing treatment and are reported to be out of danger. Their conditions are stable, and medical care is ongoing.

Police Investigation

Police have identified the car driver as Dr. Sidharth, a senior resident radiologist at GB Pant Hospital, residing in Rohini. A senior police officer stated, “His medical examination is being conducted to ascertain if he was under the influence of alcohol.” The offending vehicle has been seized, and legal proceedings have been initiated. Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the area and recording witness statements to reconstruct the sequence of events.
