A 42-year-old judicial officer in Delhi died by suicide at her residence in the Dwarka area on Wednesday, police said. The deceased, identified as Anuradha, was a civil judge (junior division) at the Karkardooma courts. She was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her bedroom.
Incident Details
The incident came to light when her husband, a lawyer, returned home and found the door locked from inside. When she did not respond, he broke open the door and discovered her body. He immediately informed the police. A team from the Dwarka North police station reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem.
Investigation Underway
Police have recovered a suicide note from the room, which is being examined. Preliminary investigation suggests that she was under stress due to some personal and professional issues. No other foul play is suspected at this stage. Further investigation is ongoing.
The judicial officer's death has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity. Colleagues and friends expressed grief and demanded a thorough inquiry into the circumstances leading to the suicide. The Delhi High Court has also taken note of the incident.
