New Delhi: The Delhi Police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a private company based in south Delhi following allegations of sexual harassment, molestation, and intimidation made by a former intern. The complainant, a 20-year-old woman, claimed that her internship was arranged through her university, and during her tenure, the CEO subjected her to repeated inappropriate behavior.
Details of the Allegations
According to the police, the woman alleged that the CEO would call her repeatedly, even late at night, and make inappropriate remarks. Despite her objections and attempts to end the calls, he allegedly continued to prolong the conversations. The police statement confirmed that the CEO also touched her without consent on several occasions. The woman stated that he often called her to his cabin for minor work-related follow-ups, and on one occasion, he allegedly kissed her hand without her permission.
Threats and Continued Internship
The accused CEO threatened to ruin her career if she disclosed the incidents to anyone, the woman claimed. She continued with the internship because she needed the completion certificate for her academic course. The woman also accused the company's director and human resources (HR) personnel of harassment and intimidation. According to her complaint, her last working day was supposed to be April 24, but she was told to leave on April 15 and was not provided with internship-related documents.
Police Investigation
The Delhi Police have recorded the woman's statement under relevant legal provisions. They have also questioned the CEO and HR personnel as part of the investigation. Additionally, the police have seized the CEO's phone for forensic analysis to gather evidence. The case is being investigated further, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
