Dhanbad Police Tops State Performance in 2025, Disposes 5,275 Cases
Dhanbad Police Leads State in Crime Control for 2025

The Dhanbad Police has secured the top position in the state of Jharkhand for overall police performance in the year 2025, marking a significant achievement in crime control and case resolution. This milestone was announced during the annual crime review meeting chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar, which provided a comprehensive analysis of crime trends, police operations, and law-and-order readiness.

Impressive Case Disposal Numbers Highlight Efficiency

Official data presented at the meeting revealed a robust performance by the district police force. In the month of December 2025 alone, 487 new cases were registered, while an even higher number, 596 cases, were successfully disposed of. This positive trend was consistent throughout the year. For the entirety of 2025, a total of 6,415 cases were registered in Dhanbad district. The police managed to resolve 5,275 of these cases, leading to a substantial reduction in the backlog. As a result, the number of pending cases has now been brought down to 2,133.

SSP Sets Ambitious Target for 2026

During the review, SSP Prabhat Kumar directed all police officers to intensify their efforts further. He set a clear and ambitious goal: to reduce the number of pending cases to below 1,500 by the end of March 2026. The SSP conducted a point-wise assessment of various performance metrics, including crime control measures, execution of warrants and summonses, disposal of long-pending cases, and the handling of major criminal incidents.

"The positive momentum achieved in crime control must be strengthened further," emphasised SSP Kumar. He reiterated that public safety remains the highest priority for the police administration.

Comprehensive Review of Serious Crimes

The annual meeting saw the presence of key officials, including City SP Ritwik Srivastava, trainee IPS officer Ankit Sinha, all DSPs, SDPOs, station house officers, outpost in-charges, and heads of various police branches. A thorough review was conducted on a wide spectrum of serious crimes. This included:

  • Murder and robbery
  • Crimes against women and POCSO cases
  • Naxal-related incidents and organised crime
  • Property offences and cybercrime
  • Unnatural death cases
  • Warrant and attachment proceedings

Officers were instructed to adopt more focused and result-oriented strategies in dealing with these cases. The meeting also noted a notable decline in incidents of bike theft in recent months, indicating the effectiveness of targeted policing efforts.
