Alwar: In a significant breakthrough, Dholpur police on Wednesday apprehended Robin Singh (40), a most-wanted criminal carrying a bounty of Rs 35,000. Singh is accused of being the main shooter in the 2012 murder of student leader Naresh Kushwah and had been evading arrest for 14 years.

Acting under the direction of Superintendent of Police Vikas Sangwan, the cyber cell team nabbed the accused from a toll plaza near the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district. The operation involved meticulous planning and extensive surveillance.
Background of the Crime
According to police, Kushwah was shot dead on December 27, 2012, by Robin Singh along with his associate Satendra Singh, a former soldier. Other accused in the case, including former MLA B.L. Kushwah, Shivram Kushwah, and Jeetu, had been arrested earlier, with the former MLA receiving a life sentence.
Evasion Tactics
Investigators revealed that Robin Singh evaded arrest by frequently changing his identity, residence, and even his children's names. He initially hid in Nepal and later moved across several states. Notably, he was reportedly planning to undergo plastic surgery to alter his appearance and avoid capture.

The police team tracked the accused over nearly 6,000 kilometers and analyzed CCTV footage from more than 500 toll plazas. During the operation, personnel posed as workers at tea stalls and transport firms to gather crucial leads. Officials stated that Singh was planning to undergo plastic surgery after the reward on him was increased, but was arrested before he could execute his plan.

SP Sangwan praised the team for their dedication and announced that they would be rewarded. Constable Harvendra Singh was specifically commended for his key role in the operation.
