In a chilling development to the triple homicide case in East Delhi's Laxmi Nagar, investigators have uncovered a personal diary believed to have been maintained by the family, offering a potential window into their lives and minds before the tragedy.
Diary Entries Hint at Mysterious Themes
While probing the alleged murders of 46-year-old Kavita and her two children—24-year-old Meghna and 14-year-old Mukul—by her son, the police made a significant discovery. The recovered diary contains detailed entries of the family's routine activities. However, sources within the investigation team revealed that the writings also include perplexing references to chemicals and the concept of the 'next life'.
An officer associated with the case stated that the contents are being scrutinized to determine if they have any direct bearing on the crime. "We are examining the contents closely to assess whether the writings have any direct connection to the crime," the officer confirmed. The diary has been sent for forensic examination to ascertain the authorship of the entries and establish their relevance.
Financial Strain Emerges as Key Angle
The primary accused, identified as Yashbir Singh, is reported to have been under significant financial stress. The police investigation found that the family had taken loans from at least 11 different individuals. This claim of monetary trouble is, however, contested by the accused's father, Dharambir, who insists the family faced no such distress.
The family, originally hailing from Panipat, owned agricultural land and heavy machinery like JCBs and tractors. Relatives indicated they were involved in several high-value transactions over the years. Notably, the family had recently sold a house in November for approximately Rs 60 lakh, with the intention of using the funds to purchase a new home in Laxmi Nagar.
Victims and the Ongoing Investigation
The victims of this horrific crime have been identified as Kavita (46), her daughter Meghna (24), who worked as lab staff, and her son Mukul (14), a student of Class VII. The alleged perpetrator, Yashbir Singh, remains in custody as the probe continues to piece together the motive and sequence of events.
