DMK Youth Wing Leader Arrested in Krishnagiri Over Child's Death Under POCSO Act
In a shocking development from Krishnagiri district, a local leader of the DMK youth wing was arrested on Friday under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The Anchetty police have identified the arrested individual as Periyanayagam, a 40-year-old resident of Sesurajapuram. According to an investigation officer, Periyanayagam was involved in an affair with a 24-year-old woman who was separated from her husband and living with her parents. This woman had a young daughter from her marriage, aged two and a half years.
The incident unfolded on December 11, when the mother took the toddler to a private hospital in Anchetty, claiming the child had suffered seizures. Tragically, doctors at the hospital declared the child brought dead upon arrival.
Based on a complaint filed by the child's father, the Anchetty police registered a case of suspicious death and launched a thorough investigation. A postmortem was conducted, and the recently released autopsy report revealed significant internal injuries, leading authorities to treat the case as a criminal matter.
