A 37-year-old resident doctor from Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Medical College was found dead in his car in the Adarsh Nagar area of the city on Monday, police said. The deceased, identified as Sandeep Sharma, was a native of Udaipurwati in Jhunjhunu district and worked in the dermatology department of the medical college.
Discovery of the body
According to Adarsh Nagar SHO Manish Gupta, Sharma had arrived in Frontier Colony in his car on Monday morning and parked it outside a house. Locals grew suspicious after noticing the vehicle parked for several hours and checked inside around 1 pm. They found Sharma lying unconscious in the driver's seat, with foam visible on his mouth.
A police team reached the spot. As the vehicle was locked from inside, police broke the front window panes to gain access and shifted Sharma to a hospital in an ambulance. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival, police said.
Investigation underway
The police stated that the exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem. No foul play is suspected at this stage, but investigations are ongoing. The incident has sent shockwaves through the medical community in Jaipur.
Sharma had been a resident doctor at the Sawai Man Singh Medical College, one of the largest government hospitals in Rajasthan. Colleagues described him as a dedicated professional.
