Mohali Police Demolishes Drug Smuggler's Illegal Property in Coordinated Action
Police in Mohali demolished an illegally constructed property belonging to a drug smuggler on Thursday. This action took place in Gorakhnath Colony, Barhmajra. The demolition formed part of the Punjab government's ongoing anti-drug campaign called 'Yudh Nasheyan Virudh'.
Operation Under Police and Panchayat Supervision
The Balongi police station supervised the demolition drive. Mohali police coordinated with the local village panchayat to execute the operation. Authorities identified the structure as an illegal encroachment on panchayat land.
Police stated the property belonged to Sanjay Shah, a resident of Gorakhnath Colony. Shah faces multiple cases related to drug trafficking. Officials completed all due legal formalities before taking action.
Senior Officers Oversee Demolition Drive
Senior police officers directly supervised the operation. SP (PBI) Deepika Singh and Kharar DSP Karan Singh Sandhu oversaw proceedings. BDPO Stawant Singh Randhawa also remained present at the site.
Adequate police force deployed to maintain law and order during the demolition. The operation proceeded smoothly without any disruptions.
Police Reveal Accused's Criminal Record
Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans provided details about the accused. Sanjay Shah has five FIRs registered against him. Three of these cases fall under the NDPS Act at Mohali Phase 1 and Balongi police stations.
The demolished structure represented illegal assets created through drug-related activities, stated SSP Hans. Police determined the property was built using proceeds from narcotics trade.
Campaign Targets Drug Smugglers' Financial Networks
The 'Yudh Nasheyan Virudh' campaign focuses on breaking the financial backbone of drug smugglers. Sustained and coordinated action aims to dismantle illegal infrastructure funded by drug money.
SSP Hans emphasized that illegal properties raised using drug money will not survive. The police maintain a strict and uncompromising stance against drug smugglers and their networks.
Police objectives extend beyond arresting offenders. Authorities work to dismantle the illegal infrastructure and assets generated through the drug trade. This approach aims to create a safer and drug-free society in Punjab.
The demolition sends a strong message to drug traffickers across the region. Police continue their efforts under the anti-drug campaign with similar actions planned against other illegal properties.
