Drunk Driver in Gurgaon Crushes Dog to Death, Faces Multiple Charges

A shocking incident unfolded in Gurgaon's Sector 5 on Wednesday morning. An intoxicated man allegedly drove his car at high speed through a residential lane. He ran over a dog multiple times, killing the animal instantly.

Residents Confront Aggressive Driver

Local residents witnessed the horrific event. They immediately confronted the driver, identified as Dhruv Wadhwa. The man reportedly became aggressive and misbehaved with the people who gathered at the spot.

Angry residents then submitted a written complaint to the Sector 5 police station. A police team quickly reached the location. They took the dog's carcass into custody for further investigation.

Police Investigation Confirms Details

Officers sent the animal's body to Kadarpur Animal Hospital for an autopsy. The examination confirmed the dog died due to injuries sustained in the accident. After the procedure, police buried the animal following standard protocols.

Authorities also took the accused driver to a government hospital for medical examination. Tests confirmed the presence of alcohol in his system, supporting witness accounts of intoxication.

FIR Registered Under Multiple Sections

Based on the complaint, autopsy report, and medical findings, police registered a formal First Information Report. The FIR includes serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act.

Specifically, the driver faces sections 281 for rash driving and 325 for killing an animal under the BNS. Police also invoked Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Previous Reckless Behavior Alleged

The complaint contained additional disturbing information. Residents alleged the same driver had previously driven recklessly in their neighborhood. On an earlier occasion, he narrowly missed hitting a four-year-old child.

This pattern of dangerous behavior alarmed local residents. They urged police to take strict action against the accused. Community members want authorities to prevent similar incidents in their residential area.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and animal welfare in urban residential areas. Police continue their investigation as the legal process moves forward.
