Eight People Arrested in Connection with Hazaribag New Year Murder Case

Police in Hazaribag have made eight arrests following a violent incident that resulted in the death of a 30-year-old man. The altercation occurred on the night of January 1 this year, sparking a major investigation.

Deadly Brawl Erupts Over Music

The trouble started with an argument about playing music on sound systems. This disagreement quickly escalated into a physical confrontation at Indrapuri Chowk, located within the Lohsinghna police station area of the town.

Suraj Rana, the victim, was brutally assaulted by a group of men. They attacked him with swords and other sharp weapons. The police confirmed that Rana died at the scene from his injuries.

Police Launch Widespread Investigation

Senior Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan provided details about the case. "The dispute erupted around 10:30 pm," Anjan stated. "Rana was attacked with sharp-edged weapons, including a sword and a baseball bat, resulting in his death on the spot."

Another individual, Kuldeep Soni, sustained serious injuries during the same incident. Following the attack, Rana's wife, Kajal, filed a formal complaint at the Lohsinghna police station.

Authorities immediately formed a special investigation team. This team operated under the supervision of Sadar Subdivisional Police Officer Amit Anand.

Nationwide Raids Lead to Arrests

The police conducted coordinated raids across multiple states to apprehend the suspects. Their operations spanned New Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Noida in Uttar Pradesh. Additional raids took place in Ramgarh, Ranchi, and Barkagaon within Jharkhand.

These efforts resulted in the arrest of eight individuals:

  • Deepak Yadav
  • Sonu Kumar
  • Rahul Kumar
  • Aman Kumar
  • Mukesh Kumar Yadav
  • One minor (name withheld due to age)

Police captured three suspects from Noida last Saturday. Subsequently, officers arrested four more accused individuals from Pindrakom village, which falls under the Barkagaon police station jurisdiction.

Officers also detained one juvenile from his residence in Kolghatti Mohalla within the city. Authorities sent this minor to a juvenile home following proper procedures.

Evidence and Criminal Backgrounds Uncovered

During the arrests, police recovered crucial evidence from the accused. This included the murder weapons: a blood-stained baseball bat and a sword.

SSP Anjan revealed that three of the arrested adults have previous criminal records. Their past cases involve charges of assault, rioting, and violations under the Arms Act.

The investigation continues as police work to establish the complete sequence of events and examine all aspects of this tragic New Year's violence.
