Madhepura: A 60-year-old man was fatally shot by armed assailants who broke into his residence in Laualagan village under Chausa police station in Madhepura district on Friday night. The victim, identified as Kailash Rai, was a local resident of the same village.
According to police, the attackers fired at close range and fled before family members could respond. Hearing the gunshots, Rai's wife, Bhadra Devi, and others rushed to the room, where they discovered him lying in a pool of blood.
Upon receiving the information, Chausa police station SHO Ravi Kumar Paswan arrived at the scene, initiated an investigation, and sent the body to Sadar hospital for postmortem examination.
Family members alleged that Rai had an old dispute with a local villager earlier that evening and had been threatened with dire consequences. “Police are investigating the case from all angles and have launched a search to identify and arrest the attackers,” the SHO added.
