Etawah Police Capture Notorious Criminal After Intense Encounter

Etawah police successfully arrested a notorious history-sheeter following a dramatic encounter on Sunday night. The incident unfolded near Bakewar, resulting in one accused being shot in the leg and apprehended, while another managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

Police Action Leads to Arrest

Bakewar police were conducting routine checks of suspicious persons and vehicles near the Sunwarsha underpass late on Sunday. They noticed a car approaching at high speed from the Barokh side. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants inside opened fire on the police team and tried to flee.

The police immediately gave chase. Near Urain village on the main road connecting Niwari to Ludhiyanvi, the accused found themselves surrounded. In a desperate move, they fired at the police once again. The police team retaliated in self-defence, with one bullet striking an accused person in the right leg.

Identity of the Arrested Accused

According to Circle Officer Rambadan of Bharthana, the injured accused was identified as Praveen, also known as Mangal Yadav or Sunil Kumar. He is the son of Ranveer Singh and resides in Harchandrapura village under the Civil Lines police station in Etawah. Police arrested him directly from the spot.

His accomplice, however, exploited the darkness to make a quick escape. Authorities seized several items from the scene, including a factory-made .315 bore rifle, four empty cartridges, six live cartridges, a mobile phone, and a Hyundai Accent car.

Criminal Record and Charges

The police registered a case against the accused at the Bakewar police station under relevant legal sections. Circle Officer Rambadan revealed that the arrested individual is a well-known history-sheeter with an extensive criminal background.

He faces a staggering 24 registered cases across various districts. These charges include serious offences such as robbery, dacoity, theft, fraud, and an attempt to murder. Additionally, cases under the Arms Act, Gangsters Act, and NDPS Act are also pending against him.

This arrest marks a significant achievement for Etawah police in their ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the region. The operation demonstrates their vigilance and quick response in dealing with armed suspects.
