“The arrest of these two individuals has given us valuable leads. We are now focusing on identifying other members of this syndicate and their financiers. The involvement of a Pakistan-based handler indicates a cross-border nexus, which we are taking very seriously,” said Dr. Dayama.

Community Impact

Local residents have expressed relief over the arrest, as drug abuse has been a growing concern in the border districts of Punjab. Many have praised the police for their proactive efforts. However, some community leaders have called for stricter surveillance on the highways to prevent such incidents in the future.

The accused will be produced in court on Thursday, where the police will seek their remand for further interrogation. The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected in the coming days.
