Ghaziabad: A day after authorities sealed two madrasas in Khoda, FIRs were registered against them, with three individuals named. The sealing was part of a three-day verification drive in Khoda, Loni, and other district areas following the murder of a 17-year-old boy and the subsequent encounter killing of the main suspect.
FIR Details
According to police, the first FIR was registered against Maulvi teacher Javed Akhtar of Sultan Alarfeen Madrasa in Mohalla Birbal, Khoda. The second FIR was registered against Maulvi Imam Mohammad Danish and Mohammad Sajid of Madrasa Ramania Arania Pasimool Ulook Madrasa in Lokpriya Vihar, Khoda.
The FIRs were registered following a complaint lodged by Waqf inspector from the office of district minority welfare officer (Ghaziabad) Santram Pal. Santram alleged both madrasas were operating illegally and were not registered with the minority affairs office, nor did they obtain approval or a valid registration certificate from Madrasa Society. “Additionally, they have not secured no objection certificates from the fire department and the electrical safety department, raising the risk of accidents on the premises,” Santram added.
Safety Concerns
A senior police official noted that many children from other districts were staying there without registration papers or safety equipment. In case of any incident, their parents would hold the government accountable, not the madrasa officials.
Trans-Hindon and city DCP Dhawal Jaiswal said that based on the complaint, FIRs were filed against the three individuals under sections 135 (assault or criminal force in attempt to wrongfully confine a person), 290 (negligent conduct regarding building activities), and 329 (criminal trespass and house-trespass) of BNS.
Arrest in Murder Case
Meanwhile, the fifth suspect, with a Rs 25,000 reward, was arrested in the murder case on Wednesday. The suspect — Sariq Mewati, 20, from Navneet Vihar, Khoda — was arrested while visiting his family. He admitted his involvement, revealing that he held the boy from behind while Asad stabbed him.
The arrest follows the May 28 murder of the boy, which police linked to a motorcycle ride dispute. He was allegedly cornered in Navneet Vihar and repeatedly stabbed near Sharma Dairy. An FIR was filed under BNS sections for murder, unlawful assembly, rioting, intentional insult, criminal intimidation, and common intention.
Previous Arrests and Encounter
On Saturday, police arrested Nawab, 45, Asad’s father, along with Farhan, 19, and Aatif, 19. Hours later, Asad was killed in an encounter in Vasundhara. On Monday, authorities posted a notice on Nawab’s locked house, stating it was on government land and gave the family 15 days to remove the encroachment under Section 136 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006.
Verification Drive
Police said the three-day verification drive would target criminals, government land, disputed properties, and illegal structures. A significant police presence, including local police, PAC, and PAF personnel, was maintained in Khoda to prevent any unrest.
