Two Lives Lost in Tragic Expressway Collision Amid Heavy Fog
A devastating accident claimed two lives on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway early Thursday morning. The crash occurred under dense fog conditions in Nuh district, near Gurgaon.
Fatal Collision During Morning Hours
A private bus traveling from Balaji to Dhaula Kuan crashed violently into a truck from behind. Police reported the incident happened around 7:30 AM near Shekhpur village. Visibility had dropped dramatically due to heavy fog blanketing the area.
The bus driver apparently failed to spot the truck ahead in time. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the bus crumpled completely. This trapped several passengers inside the wreckage.
Victims Identified
Two men died instantly at the scene. Authorities identified them as Mohar Singh Meena, a 35-year-old constable with Delhi Police, and Bhawani Singh Rajput, a 40-year-old bus conductor.
Meena hailed from Baijupala village in Rajasthan's Dausa district. He was returning to Delhi to resume his police duties. Rajput was a resident of Alwar district in Rajasthan.
Injured Passengers Receive Medical Care
Between five and six passengers suffered serious injuries in the collision. Emergency responders rushed them to Mandikhera hospital using ambulances. Medical staff confirmed these injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition remains stable according to hospital authorities.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Multiple emergency teams reached the accident site promptly. Police units, highway patrolling staff, and ambulance services all responded immediately after receiving information about the crash.
Rescue workers evacuated the injured passengers and transported them to the hospital. Crews then removed the damaged vehicles to restore normal traffic flow on the expressway.
Police sent the bodies for postmortem examination. They await the autopsy reports before proceeding further. Legal action will commence once family members file formal complaints.
Preliminary Findings and Traffic Impact
Initial investigation points to poor visibility caused by dense fog as the primary factor behind the collision. However, investigators are also examining other potential causes. They are looking at the bus's speed and whether it maintained a safe following distance from the truck.
The accident occurred specifically near Gujar Nangla village along the expressway. Traffic movement suffered significant disruption following the crash. Vehicles crawled at a snail's pace for nearly an hour before normal flow could resume.
