Security Forces Uncover Maoist IEDs and Supplies in Bijapur Operations
Security forces conducted two separate anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Wednesday. They recovered multiple improvised explosive devices and a Maoist logistics dump during these actions.
Operations Target Maoist Threats Ahead of Republic Day
Police officials stated that the operations formed part of intensified area-domination and de-mining patrols. These patrols aim to prevent Maoist attacks in the run-up to Republic Day celebrations. Security forces have increased their presence across Bijapur district. Teams maintain strict surveillance on known Maoist activity corridors.
First Operation Uncovers Command IEDs on Rural Road
In the first operation, teams from Madded police station worked with the bomb detection and disposal squad. They recovered two command IEDs along the Somnapalli–Bandepaar rural road. Each explosive device weighed approximately ten kilograms.
Police explained that Maoists planted these IEDs in a sequential pattern. The explosives formed part of a chain of devices intended to target security forces moving along the route. Security personnel detected the IEDs during routine patrolling exercises.
The bomb disposal team from Bijapur later neutralized the explosives on-site. They followed all established safety protocols during the destruction process.
Second Operation Reveals Pressure IEDs and Hidden Supplies
In a separate search and de-mining operation, forces explored the forested Kondapadgu area in Bhopalpatnam. A combined team of district police and CRPF's 214 battalion participated in this action.
They recovered two pressure IEDs during their search. Each of these explosive devices weighed about two kilograms. The CRPF's bomb disposal unit safely destroyed these IEDs at the spot.
During the same search operation, forces made another significant discovery. They found two white plastic drums buried in the ground. Maoists used these containers to secretly store ration and other logistical materials.
Recovery Indicates Maoist Sustenance Efforts
Police officials said the recovery of these supplies indicates clear attempts by Maoist cadres. They are trying to sustain their movement in interior forest pockets. The hidden drums contained essential ration and logistical materials needed for their operations.
Security forces continue their vigilant patrols across the region. They remain focused on preventing any disruptive activities during the important national celebrations.
