Mumbai Police Files Chargesheet Against Foreign Makeup Artists in Harassment Case

The Mumbai police have formally submitted a chargesheet against three foreign nationals who work as celebrity makeup artists, accusing them of outraging the modesty of a woman who had rented her flat to them. The case has drawn attention due to the high-profile nature of the accused and the serious allegations involved.

Details of the Allegations

According to the chargesheet filed by the Vanrai police, there is prima facie evidence against the accused. The document outlines that the woman, who rented her flat in March 2025 to German national Daniel Bauer through brokers, faced repeated harassment from Bauer and his room partners, Danver Patrick and Irish national Tyron Braganza.

The chargesheet states that between March and May 2025, the accused subjected the complainant to intimidation and abuse through a WhatsApp group. This group was allegedly used to send abusive and sexually explicit messages, pressuring and insulting the woman. When she attempted to inspect her flat on May 4, 2025, she was obstructed by the accused and their lawyer, and Daniel made objectionable comments during this encounter.

Incidents Leading to the Charges

Disputes arose soon after the rental agreement, with Daniel allegedly deducting tax amounts arbitrarily and forcing the complainant to bear additional tax liability. The situation escalated when, on May 28, 2025, following complaints from neighbors about construction noise and vandalism, the woman discovered the flat door broken and unauthorized alterations had been carried out without her permission.

The chargesheet further alleges that when the woman tried to inspect the flat, the accused misbehaved, and one of them touched her inappropriately. This incident, combined with the earlier harassment, led to the filing of the chargesheet under the BNS sections for assault, criminal intimidation, harassment, and outraging the modesty of a woman.

Police Action and Legal Proceedings

The Vanrai police have emphasized that the chargesheet is based on substantial evidence gathered during the investigation. The accused have been charged with multiple offenses, reflecting the severity of the allegations. The case highlights issues related to tenant-landlord disputes and the misuse of digital platforms for harassment.

As the legal proceedings move forward, this case serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting property rights and personal boundaries, especially in urban rental scenarios. The Mumbai police's swift action in filing the chargesheet underscores their commitment to addressing such crimes promptly.
